Balch, Edwin Swift:
Title THE NORTH POLE AND BRADLEY LAND.
Book Number 40725
Philadelphia, Campion and Company, 1913. Cloth, top edge gilt, map, pp. 91. Covers stained and affected by insects, endpapers soiled, two small marks on title-page, small contemporary news clipping about the safety of an Arctic expedition stuck to front paste-down, else internally fine. Amongst other topics, this work presents the reasons behind the author's deduction that Admiral Cook was the first to reach and report on the North Pole, before Admiral Peary. "History must inevitably pronounce Cook the describer of the North Pole, for it is an historical fact that the first account of the North Pole was given to the world by Cook" (p.52). Scarce.
