"To Eurocentric eyes, an outstanding aspect of the Bradshaw (Gwion Gwion) rock art is its sheer beauty. This book, with its many creative and artistic features, is fully up to displaying that beauty. The inherent difficulty of working with such a quantity and variety of different images is elegantly overcome. The wide landscape pages (35cm x 25cm) are used well with a four column layout but Walsh is never afraid to use variations of up to a full page for an image where appropriate. The maps, photographs, rock art silhouettes and drawings show a remarkable degree of coherence in being displayed within the text. A creative use of backgrounds means that the images can stand alone as works of art. The quality of the photography is superb. The jacquard patterning is effective in enhancing areas of plain text. The tasteful endpapers are enhanced by the design of the section openers" (Michael Barry).
